Recycling and Trash Collection

Trash and recyclables are collected from our neighborhood by the City of Rockville once-per-week on Monday. (New date as of September 15th 2014!) The details of the collection service are listed below.

How the Program Works:

      • Single Stream Recycling (Glass, Metal, Plastic, Mixed Paper and Cardboard) – Collected at the curb in the City-provided brown cart on your collection day. Must be out by 6 a.m on Monday.
      • Refuse – Collected at the curb in the City-provided gray refuse cart on your collection day. Refuse must be out by 6 a.m on Monday.
      • 2019 Refuse Calendar
      • Yard Waste – Grass Clippings: place in biodegradable paper bags or easily emptied 32-gallon, rigid containers and set at the curb on your collection day. Brush and Branches: Branches do not need to be bundled or tied. Place branches and sections of trees at the curb in an unobstructed area.
      • Spring and Fall Leaf Collection – Place unbagged leaves at the curb by 6 a.m. on the collection dates. Sticks and all other objects need to be removed from the leaf piles.
      • Special Collections – All recycling and refuse items that do not fit into your brown and gray carts. Includes bulky items such as appliances and furniture. You must call 240-314-8568 to schedule an appointment. Residents receive six special collections annually.
      • Hazardous Items – Call 240-314-8568 for a collection appointment.
      • Removal of Dead Animals – Call Animal Control at 240-314-8930.
